Victorian Framed Silhouettes

I saw something similar to these on a wedding ideas website recently and I just loved the idea! I hung my grouping at the top of my staircase-it looks so charming and chic! Check out the "finished product!"

How to DIY:

Frames:

Find a couple of frames, any you have at home, from a thrift store-what ever strikes you as it!

I wanted to add some golden tones to the frames so I bought rub on gold paint at Michaels (about $4 and it comes in a variety of finishes from gold to silver). I put together ornate frames with antique wooden frames.

Silhouettes:

I had purchased plain muslin on a dollar-a-yard sale a while ago (Joann's has dollar muslin all the time!) and that's what I used as the cloth background.

I bought cotton black fabric cheap, too. Then I used my fav fabric to fabric bond, bought at Walmart, to bond the fabrics together with an iorn. It should never peel unless for some reason you need to wash it.

I had a silhouette clip art book that I bought at Borders a million years ago that I used for some of the silhouettes. I search for a bunch more on the internet and found lots!! I then printed them to the size I wanted and cut them out. I traced my silhouette patterns on to my webing and then cut those out.

Okay, then I hot glue gunned the fabric to the frame. Thats it!!

I have to admit, when I decided to do this craft, I realized I had everything I needed and spend NOT A DIME. I was sooo happy that it really inspired me to start to post this as my first craft posting. Maybe this will inspire you to look through your junk drawers or those tired drapes or pict frames in a whole different light!
